How does objectiveFIELD work?
A: It uses a novel stimulus strategy, an example of which you can see here. Responses are measured objectively using infrared video cameras.
How long does a test take?
A: The current full threshold test is approx. 6 mins for both eyes (binocular test) There are shorter protocols (as short as 80 seconds) that will be available in the future, timing TBD.
How does objectiveFIELD compare to conventional perimetry?
A: It is objective, binocular, and very easy for patients to take and for techs to administer on patients. While it performs standard 10-2, 24-2 and 30-2 protocols, it uses a completely different stimulus strategy – here is a link to a video of an example of what the patient sees. Responses are measured objectively using a patented “Clustered Volley”, multi-focal pupil objective perimetry method. ObjectiveField stimuli cover more than 99% of the 30-2 retinal area, while SAP Goldman III stimuli only sample approximately 0.5% of the 30-2 area with the assumption that the remaining 99.5% of the non-sampled central area is well represented by the small stimuli.
Does objectiveFIELD replace other perimeters?
A: Conventional perimeters and objectiveFIELD are designed to assess human visual field sensitivity.
How Does objectiveFIELD compare to the HFA?
A: The HFA was the predicate device used in the FDA 510(K).
Are there any disposables used?
A: No. It is completely non-contact.
Can the device accommodate smaller faces?
A: The human interface design is designed for a wide range of human morphology.
What refractive correction is needed?
A: Trial lenses are used for larger refractive errors.
Where can I see objectiveFIELD?
A: objectiveFIELD will be premiered at AAO in Chicago Oct. 26-30, 2018 as well as OGS and AAOPT in San Antonio Nov. 6-9, 2018.
What is the price of objectiveFIELD and when will it be available?
A: The device has not yet been commercialized, pricing and availability will be announced later this year.
